Namche Bazaar holds a weekly market on Saturday mornings in the town centre, and many of the Sherpa people working in trekking and mountaineering come from the Namche area.

Takdah is the headquarters of the Rangli Rangliot community development block. Takdah Rural Hospital, with 30 beds, is the block's main government medical facility.

In Bhutan a hot spring is called tshachu and a medicinal mineral spring menchu; a 13th-century belief holds that the saint Drupthob Terkhungpa scattered 128 medicines in Gasa, forming its springs.

The Ledo Road, later renamed the Stilwell Road, was built by Allied forces in the Second World War to link Ledo in Assam with the Burma Road to China. Its route crosses Arunachal through Jairampur and Nampong to the Pangsau Pass.
