The short climb from Kaza to Key Gompa at about 4,166 m and on to Kibber village at about 4,270 m. Twelve kilometres to Key, about 19 to Kibber, and the start of the road to Chicham bridge. Easy by taxi, local bus or, for the fit and acclimatised, on foot.

A local bus runs from Kaza to Kibber via Key in season, usually once or twice a day, leaving Kaza in the afternoon and returning next morning. That makes it good for a night in Kibber but awkward for a day trip. Ask at the Kaza bus stand for current timings.
The usual way to visit Key and Kibber in half a day. Taxi union rates are posted in Kaza and cover waiting time. Leave at 6.30 am to reach Key for morning prayers, then go on to Kibber and Chicham bridge.
Fit travellers who have had two nights in Kaza can walk the road or village paths to Key, gaining about 500 m. Start early with water, sun protection and a phone, and take a taxi back. Do not walk on your first or second day.

About 12 km, roughly 30 minutes by taxi. Kibber is about 7 km further.
A local bus usually runs in the afternoon in season and returns next morning, which suits a night in Kibber. Check current status before you travel.
It is possible by taxi but rushed and tiring at this altitude. We suggest Key, Kibber and Chicham one day and Langza, Hikkim and Komic another.
Only after at least two nights in Kaza. Kibber is about 600 m higher, so the extra night is good acclimatisation if you feel well.
