Walk to Vasudhara Falls from Mana
A stony trail of about 5 km from Mana past the Saraswati temple and up the Alaknanda valley to Vasudhara, a slender waterfall of about 120 m. Big mountain views, little shade and a climb to above 3,600 m.
The path to Vasudhara begins near Bhim Pul at the edge of Mana village and runs north-west along the Alaknanda valley. After the small Saraswati temple it becomes rocky and steep in places, crossing scree and meadow with views back towards Mana and up to the peaks around Chaukhamba and Neelkanth. Most walkers take about three hours up and two down.
The waterfall drops about 120 m off a sheer cliff, falling so far that much of it turns to spray in the wind. Pilgrims believe the water falls only on those who are pure of heart, and many stand beneath the drifting mist. Legend places the Pandavas here on their last journey towards Swargarohini, and Sahadeva is said to have died near Vasudhara.
Start early to avoid afternoon wind and cloud. Carry water, snacks, sunscreen and a warm layer; there are few stalls past the first kilometre. The route stays above 3,200 m throughout, so it is a good acclimatisation walk only if you have already spent a night at Badrinath. Beyond Vasudhara the trail continues to Laxmi Van and Satopanth Tal, a serious trek that needs permits, a guide and camping gear.

Questions
Before you book
How long is the Vasudhara Falls trek?
About 5 km one way from Mana, or 9 km from Badrinath. Walkers usually take three hours up and two down. The trail is stony with some steep sections and little shade, so it suits reasonably fit walkers rather than young children or frail seniors.
When is Vasudhara Falls accessible?
Usually from mid-May to October or November, while Badrinath temple is open. Snow can block the path early in the season. Mid-September to October brings the clearest skies. Check current status in Mana before setting out.
Can I continue from Vasudhara to Satopanth Tal?
Yes, but it is a separate 2–3 day trek with camping above 4,000 m, requiring forest permits, a registered guide and proper gear. It is not a day walk. Plan it with a licensed local operator and acclimatise first.
