GMVN Hotel Devlok, Badrinath
GMVN's hotel in Badrinath, one of the state corporation's two properties in the town, with plain heated rooms within walking distance of the temple. A reliable, fairly priced base for one or two nights on the yatra.
Badrinath fills to bursting in May and June, and many private hotels raise prices sharply. GMVN, the state tourism corporation, runs Hotel Devlok here alongside a cheaper Yatri Niwas with dorm beds. Devlok's rooms are simple but clean, with bedding suited to nights near freezing, and the walk to the temple and Tapt Kund is short.
Book early for the first month of the yatra and for September and October weekends. The restaurant serves plain vegetarian food, in keeping with the town. If Devlok is full, the Yatri Niwas suits saver travellers, and dharamshalas near the temple offer basic rooms. For more comfort, our comfort itineraries usually sleep at Joshimath or Auli and visit Badrinath with an early start.
Why we use it
