Hotel Ibex, Jispa
The most established hotel in Jispa and one of the best in Lahaul, beside the Bhaga river on the Manali–Leh road. Heated rooms, a restaurant and a calm setting at about 3,200 m make it the top of what Lahaul offers: comfortable rather than luxurious.
Hotel Ibex has served travellers on the Manali–Leh road for a long time and is the best-known hotel in Jispa. Rooms are warm, with attached bathrooms and hot water, and the restaurant serves Indian and continental food for road-trippers, families and groups on their way to Ladakh or Chandratal. Around it are willows, fields of peas and potatoes, and the Bhaga river.
We use it on signature trips as the last night in Lahaul before the drive back to Manali, or as an acclimatisation stop before Chandratal. At about 3,200 m most travellers sleep well here. Lahaul's hotels are seasonal and largely close from about November to April; check current status before you travel and book early for July and August. Ask for a river-facing room when you book.
Why we use it
