Mid-range Guesthouse · Kaza
Sakya Abode, Kaza
A long-running family hotel in Kaza near the Sakya Tangyud monastery. Warm rooms with attached bathrooms, a dining room serving Indian and Tibetan food, and a short walk to the market and taxi stand. A reliable comfort base for three or four nights of village loops.
Sakya Abode is one of the older established hotels in Kaza and a common choice for comfort trips. Rooms have attached bathrooms with hot water, extra blankets for cold nights and simple, clean furnishings. The dining room serves dal, rice, vegetables, thukpa and breakfast, and the staff are used to travellers arriving tired from the Kunzum or Kinnaur roads. Ask for a room on the upper floor for more light and warmth in the afternoon.
The location works well. The Sakya Tangyud monastery is a few minutes away for an evening walk, the market and cafes are close, and the taxi union stand is easy to reach for early starts to Key, Langza or Pin valley. Like most of Kaza, the hotel runs mainly in the summer season; check current status before you travel and book early for July and August.
