Ladakh in April
Apricot blossom month in lower Ladakh. From mid-April the orchards of the Sham valley, Alchi, Khalatse, Garkon and the Kargil side turn white and pink, and villages hold small blossom events. The Srinagar–Leh highway via Zoji La often reopens around this time, so the road approach becomes possible. Higher lakes are still frozen and Changthang is bitterly cold.
