Mid-range Heritage hotel · Ranikhet
West View, Ranikhet
A heritage hotel built in 1918 on a forested plateau above Ranikhet, with timber-framed architecture, high-ceilinged rooms with fireplaces and gardens shaded by deodar and pine. It suits travellers who like old buildings and slow evenings.
West View stands on about 5 acres of deodar and pine forest overlooking the western valley of Ranikhet, a short drive from the Mall and Sadar Bazaar. The building dates from 1918 and has been a hotel for decades, with Queen Anne-style details, timber framing and parquet floors that recall Ranikhet's cantonment past.
Rooms have high ceilings and many have fireplaces, which matter on winter nights. The lounge, dining room and garden sit-outs are the hotel's heart. Expect the character and occasional quirks of an old building rather than a modern resort. It is a comfortable base for the regimental museum, Chaubatia and Jhula Devi, and a good stop between Nainital and Kausani.
Why we use it
