Ahdoos Hotel
A long-established city hotel on Residency Road in central Srinagar, best known for its restaurant, one of the valley's oldest and a reference for Kashmiri wazwan. Rooms are comfortable and practical, close to Lal Chowk and a few minutes from Dal Lake.
Ahdoos stands on Residency Road in the commercial heart of Srinagar, within walking distance of Lal Chowk and the Jhelum bridges, and a short drive from Dal Gate. The hotel has around two dozen air-conditioned rooms, and its restaurant, dating back about a century, is where many Srinagar families go for wazwan dishes such as rista, rogan josh and gushtaba served à la carte.
It suits travellers who want a central hotel with good Kashmiri food and easy access to shops, banks and the old city, rather than a lakeside view. Street noise is part of the package, so ask for a room away from the road. It is a good base for day trips by shared Sumo, which leave from nearby stands.
