JKTDC Huts and Cottages, Pahalgam
The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation runs cottages and huts in Pahalgam, set among pines near the Lidder. They are the most reliable government stay in town, good value for families sharing a multi-room cottage.
JKTDC's Pahalgam property offers cottages from one bedroom upwards, with kitchenettes or sitting rooms in some units, spread over wooded grounds near the river. Rooms are plain and functional, and standards vary between units, but the setting is calm and central. Families and groups get the best value by booking a multi-bedroom cottage and sharing.
Book directly on the official JKTDC website, where rates and availability are listed, and confirm what is included: heating, hot water and meals are not always standard. In peak months from April to June and during the Amarnath Yatra, book well ahead. Off-season, JKTDC sometimes offers discounts.
Why we use it
